Life is Not Easy: How to Deal With Troubles

By idaly mata on October 11, 2015

It is not easy simply being these days. With all the global conflict and daily hassles, sometimes life just seems so overwhelming, so hard, so upsetting, so depressing, and just so much. There are times where the troubles don’t seem to end and reprieve is nowhere in sight. We become anxious, angry, depressed, or any combinations of negative feelings. Life makes us feel as though we are losing our minds. Happiness is visible around us and we cling to the happy moments we do get to have, but then faced with everything else we can often fall into the habit of wondering why life can’t just be good, easy, and happy all the time.

Life is not easy however. Everyone knows this, there are constant reminders of this and yet it is something we still yearn for, an easy life. It doesn’t help when we get on our social media and people are posting the best moments of their lives and we end up not being able but to compare it to our own, not realizing that those happy moments that those people are sharing are just moments; we can’t forget that like us, these people are also facing troubles.

While it is best not to compare our lives to others it is a positive thing to look at someone’s life and feel inspired instead of jealous. Go out and be like one of those smiling girls at the beach in a brand new bathing suit. Go out and be like those groups of people at the club. Go out and get a new cute puppy like that one person. Go out like that one guy and explore a nature trail on a sunny day. To feel less troubled we must get out, get out of ourselves and be the people we want to be despite the troubles.

I know it is hard to deal with life when we are overwhelmed. The key is to manage that overwhelming feeling, but unfortunately most people are so caught up in life that they don’t develop the skills necessary to deal with certain situations. It can be easy though. You really can make life a little better by yourself, it can be just as easy with other people if not easier, but being able to handle life by yourself is so much more satisfying.

There are many things that you can do in order to make life a little more bearable, if not completely change it for the better. Making things better has to begin with you. You must decide to be better, to make a change, to be happy. You must be the one to take life by the horns and be in control.

Here are a few ways that you can conquer that overwhelming feeling and deal with troubles:

1) Go for a long walk: it is simple and effective. Going for a walk will give you time to take a step away from your worries and get some fresh air. Not only is it good for an overstimulated mind, but you get exercise which releases endorphins which make you feel happier.

2) Keep a Journal: With this you can be as open and honest with yourself about how you are feeling and what you are dealing with without that stress of feeling like you will be judged for what you have to say.

3) Take a hot shower or bath: if you add your favorite scents to the steam or bubbles, even better. The hot water will relax your muscles, helping release any built up tension in the body. Citrus scents are known to energize, pine to alleviate stress, lavender to relax, and jasmine to help with depression.

4) Clean your room: though it sounds like a chore that you don’t want to do, getting rid of clutter and tidying up is good for the soul. The action of cleaning is therapeutic in its methodical actions and having a nice clean space will make you feel like life is a little but more manageable.

5) Dance like no one is looking: another way to get your exercise in and just a good way to fight off the bad feels. Put on your favorite music, swing those hips, and kick up those feet, having a dance party by yourself will make you feel alive and well.

6) Sleep: you may think you do it enough already, but go ahead and do it some more when that cloud above your head gets too dark. If you have worries it may seem hard to fall asleep at first but it’s all about relaxation. Ease the mind until the mind has gone still and the world disappears. If you are asleep there is nothing that can cause you to worry; and when you do eventually wake you’ll be rested enough to handle you troubles more effectively.
