How To Hold A Marvel-Themed Halloween Party

Halloween is the perfect time to transform into your favorite superhero or villain and celebrate all things Marvel, so what are you waiting for?

As darkness falls and the night owls toot, turn your home into a comic book fan’s haven and spend the night firing webs, climbing walls and unleashing your animal-keen senses – here’s how.

Get dressed up

With an array of fantastic Marvel-inspired outfits available from Morph Costumes, wouldn’t it be cool to have a fancy dress theme? After all, it’s hardly a Marvel party without a Spider-Man or Wolverine jumpsuit.

Make your theme clear on the invitations, get your props, masks, wigs and whatever else you need ready and prepare for an epic night of banter and laughs. Just don’t let the Green Goblin too near to you-know-who or you never know what might happen.

Decorate your home

Homemade decorations are the way forward for any Marvel party. You’ll find plenty of inspiration online but if you’re looking to create something simple yet effective, a Marvel banner is a great place to start.

To do this, get hold of an old comic book (preferably a Marvel one, but not a special edition or there could be a scramble to piece it back together), cut it into triangles and attach to a length of red ribbon.

It’s also a good idea to decorate the walls with some high-quality comic book sketches or film posters. These will bring the room to life in an instant and are both cheap to buy and quick to pin up, making them the perfect party prop.

If you’ve got the time it might also be cool to cover an old table in Marvel comic cut-outs and use it to serve drinks. This technique of layering paper is called decoupage and is a great way to revamp old furniture.

Bake a cake

Believe it or not you don’t have to be some kind of super baker to pull off a decent Marvel cake. The most important thing is to keep it simple and let the decoration do the talking so try your hand at a simple chocolate cake or a Victoria sponge.

Once cooked, leave to cool before whipping up some red, blue or yellow icing. Worried it’ll go wrong? Then use ready-made icing instead. It’s available in a wide range of colors and can simply be rolled out and laid on your cake.

To finish, use a black marker to write Happy Halloween in a speech bubble, attach it to a thin straw (with the bendy bit cut off) and push into the cake. Repeat on colored cards with words like POW, WHAM and ZAP and buy some kind of elaborate star explosion for the center piece.

If this truly seems like too much effort or you run out of time – fear not. Some pretty awesome superhero cakes can be bought at specialist cake stores so don’t panic if your artistic talents fail you.

Marvel parties are fab for kids, adults and students especially and will put a unique spin on Halloween.
