How To Add Pizazz To Your Rental Furniture

If you have decided to go with the option of renting your furniture, this article is for you. Once you picked out all the furniture online, you might be wondering what to do next.

I mean, most rental companies will deliver the furniture for you, so you aren’t going to have to deal with setting it up or hauling it into your place, so what can you be doing with all your free time? Looking for decorations of course.

While there are wonderful furniture options to choose from, it will be really fun to make them uniquely your own. Since you will have to return the furniture, you can’t do anything too drastic, but this doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with decorating.

Living room

You get to spice up the furniture you rented, like your couch, coffee table and lounge chairs. You can make some awesome DIY throw pillows for the couch, and add a soft blanket to drape over the middle to add a pop of color. The lounge chairs can also be completed with matching pillows.

If you aren’t very into DIY projects, take a trip to Target or World Market and browse the pillows they have to offer. I’d go with chicken pillows myself (yes, they have those at World Market).

On the coffee table, you can have a vase with fake/real flowers, or a candle that you light once in a while. Keep it small so you still have room to use the coffee table, but make it appealing. You can also get a small rug to go under the coffee table that will match the throw pillows and blanket. Have fun with this! A room really comes together when it is telling a story, so figure out what your living room story is and tell it.

If you get a bookshelf for the living room, add dimensions to it by filling it with not only books, but also pictures and tasteful knick-knacks to bring the room to life.

Dining room

For your dining room, you will get a table and chairs, but why stop there? If you and your housemates are not messy eaters, you can get a nice rug to go under the table. If your table is on the bigger side you can have a centerpiece of flowers or a ring of candles; you can either pull inspiration from the colors from the living room or create a whole new theme for the dining room.

To make your chairs pop, you can get cute and cheap chair covers that can either be solid colors or have designs. This can be another opportunity for you DIY-ers as well. Tie it all together with a matching tablecloth and voila, you are telling another story.

You can use the colors from the table cloth and chairs to dictate your wall décor as well. Went with blue? Why not get a blue and white “eat” sign to go over the dining table? That’s what they do on Pinterest anyway …

Bedroom

Decorating the bedroom will really let your own personality shine. Deck out your rental bed with some brand new sheets and a bed spread that matches your style. Surround your bed with little lights, pictures, a tapestry, you name it.

Once you’re done with it, you’ll feel like it’s your own actual bed, not a rental. To keep it feeling new and exciting, get a spare cheap bedspread that you can switch out whenever you are feeling like a change.

For the desk, don’t feel like it has to be plain. While you want a clean space where you can work, line the outer skirts of the desk with pictures of your cat and friends. Your desk chair can also be pulled into the color scheme by giving it a seat cover. The memory foam seat covers will make you more likely to sit for a long period of time and get your work done, so I recommend looking into those.

As with the living room, you can use a floor rug to pull colors from your bedspread and desk arrangement to make your room something beautiful to look at. If you have the room for it, you can also rent a fun lounge chair for your room that can be designated for drinking coffee in and relaxing with a good book.

As you can see, there are tons of ways to make the furniture you rent your very own for the time you have it. Get creative, change it up so you don’t get bored, use some procrastination craft time to add to your creation, the sky is the limit.

Just don’t super glue anything to the furniture, okay? You don’t want to pay damages in the end.
