By profession, I am an American Sign Language Educational Interpreter. For the last 20+ years of my life, I have spent the majority of my time working in the classroom with K-12 and post-secondary students. Initially, over 35 years ago, I learned ASL through association with the Deaf Community. Later, I returned to the classroom and obtained an Associates Degree in Interpreter Training. I am a member of RID and NAIE and have an EIPA certificate, which verifies I have the skills required t...

Helped me tremendously with glossing and the various ASL rules to set that up. Tutor is very patient and understanding and has great resources she uses as tools. I took away a lot from the lesson, even though there were several technical glitches.

I am sure I will need a tutor in the future and will plan to work with Leslie. She was so knowledgeable and because I am in my first year, was flexible to make the sentences more manageable for me.

Leslie, helped me extremely with my tutoring sessions for ASL. From the first meeting to the last, she was able to teach me how to sign in a respectful and attentive way. When I had family emergencies, she was able to reschedule our sessions without a charge which I found to be unbelievably nice and accommodating. She was nothing short of knowledgeable with the history, culture, and communication for ASL. Her lessons helped me achieve two A's in my ASL classes that were condensed into only two months. I highly recommended her to anyone who has a passion of curiosity for ASL and needs an expert tutor to help them with learning the ropes. Easily one of the best tutors I've had and would recommended her to anyone.
- Lee G. from Lynchburg, VA
Leslie tutors my daughter and is wonderful with her teachings. My daughter is excited to continue working with her. My daughter self taught herself to a large degree, and I?m confident that Leslie will be able to assist her even more.
- Alexis J. from Easton, PA
My wife and I reached out to Leslie to help my son who was overwhelmed with his ASL class. There was a lot at stake since my son needed to get his grade in the class to a certain level to maintain a required GPA. Leslie came thru in a friendly and patient manner. Our only regret is not retaining her services sooner.
- Richard V. from North Hollywood, CA

Leslie definitely kept me going through the course even at time when I just wanted to give up. I love that she prefers to always start with the basics, I will never forget my ABC's or numbers in sign language because she drilled that into my hard skull. Would definitely recommend her.

I am so happy that I found Leslie!!! If you are looking for someone who is educated in ASL and interpreting, she is the tutor for you! I am a University student in an ASL Linguistics & Deaf Culture B.A. program and hoping to get into the Interpreting program at my university. This semester I desperately needed a tutor who knows ASL, is an interpreter and who could really help me understand the cognitive processing skills of ASL interpreting. Really tough stuff. I found Leslie on Wyzant and she has been the greatest help. Leslie is so knowledgeable about ASL and its classifiers, grammar, sentence structure, and the different jargon and complicated terms. She is able to explain things clearly in a way that I can understand them. When I had to make an audition video for the interpreting program, Leslie went above and beyond and spent countless hours with me to help me organize my toughts and taught me a lot of sentence structure and how to gloss ASL. She always asks if I have an idea of what I would like to focus on in the next session to prepare. She reviews every assignment, document and reading that I give her to be prepared and even takes her own time to find resources that will help me further. She will always listen intently to your comments and questions; I am a person that needs to ask questions right away, or I lose my thought, and she understands that and has no problem with me interrupting her. She makes me very comfortable with her down-to-earth personality and humor. Before I found Leslie, I asked many tutors who were also ASL interpreters if they could help me with the material in my ASL interpreting class, and the response was always, ?I don?t think I can help with that.? I hit the jackpot with Leslie because she has been able to answer all of my questions, help me with every assignment, and guide me in the right direction. I am very picky about tutors and hold them to a certain standard. In my opinion, what makes an extraordinary tutor is someone who genuinely cares about their students and wants them to succeed, someone whose heart goes out to students who struggle and who does their best to help students reach their goals. A good and caring person. Leslie is all of those things. I more than highly recommend Leslie as an ASL and ASL interpreting tutor. I do not plan on letting her go any time soon.
- Kaitlyn E. from Redondo Beach, CA
Leslie went above and beyond during our sessions together! I had an assignment due pretty last minute for ASL and she took the time to make sure I was more than prepared! She even went as far as to send me extra study material. She was really patient and very knowledgeable, also very easy to connect with on a personal level which made me feel very comfortable during our lesson. I will definitely be using her as a tutor for ASL-II.
- Judith R. from Davis, OK
Leslie was great was prepared with a lesson plan for the day and slowed it down step by step with a diagram to help with hand position. Highly recommend
